The Bluenose Arabian Horse Club was first established in 1998, by a very loyal group of individuals dedicated to having and promoting the Arabian horse as a part of their equine family - which with Arabians, literally means that they are a part of the human family as well.
The club has certainly had its ups and its downs, but the nucleus survived, and so it meant that the club went on - even though, it wasn’t very active. The great thing about downs is that there is always an up, and the attendance to the AGM meeting as well as the social gatherings which are held during winter months, have been growing steadily.
The club meets several times during the winter months, to listen to presentations, given by various members of the equine community - e.g. saddle fitting. During these social gatherings, a potluck supper is always held and the rave review of the various participants cooking certainly brings big smiles and happy tummies!
In addition it is a great time to get together and just to talk about our best friends, the Arabian horse, mind you this is a friendly lot, thus horse people of other kinds do drop in from time to time.
While the club itself does not host any horse shows, various members of the club are heavily involved in two shows, the Arabian Reunion Open Fun Show and the NS Tri-breed Show.
The club usually sponsors year-end awards for the Atlantic Canada Trail Riding Association, as well as a class at the Arabian Reunion Open Fun Show, the NS Tri-breed Show, the NS Arabian Show (Truro), and the Windsor Junction Multi Breed/Discipline Show (Windgate).
The versatility of the Arabian horse - pure and partbred means that you quite possibly will meet members of the club at Judged Pleasure Rides, Competitive Trail Rides, Endurance Rides, Team Penning, Reining, Breed Shows, driving shows, open shows, or any other horse discipline where an Arabian horse can be found.
The club looks very much forward to the upcoming riding/driving season. A time to share with out beautiful, versatile, people oriented Arabian horses
