The NS Tribreed Show was held on the 25, 26 June - the entries were low, but
the show gallantly went on, and a good time was had by all. Next year, at
the "TriBreed" there will be new classes offered, the show will also have a
number of open classes, so that those who have other breeds, may come and
show as well. There also will be one class, which will be totally new -
more info on that later.

The Arabian Reunion Open Fun Show - was well received by the show horse
community. There were 26 entries, and many of the classes had at least 7
entries. The reputation of this show is bringing in entries from other
disciplines, as well as horses from Amherst to Meteghan. It offers a wide
range of classes, with people showing, who have not shown before to seasoned
competitors. There were all different breeds of horses there as
well, -Arabians,Appaloosa, Quarter Horses, Morgans. ponies, different
mixtures of horses, and even a Shire.

The classes which had both the ponies and the Shire in it was very
interesting, and went along so well.

Gail Veinot judged the classes with great efficieny, and at the end of the
day was still as bright as could be, she would make an excellent entrant for
the "Ever Ready Bunny".

Traffic controller or ring master, was ably handled by Robin Ward. Robin
was also the ring master for one day of the NS TriBreed Show, and is now
thinking about a career, from the "centre of the ring".

The announcer, that wonderful English accent, was Mike Fairclough, who has
done the announcing at a number of the shows, his voice and style is well
received by both the competitors and the audience.

Many thanks, and appreciation to the sponsors for the show - your continuing
support, is great!

Delle Fairclough was given special gifts from her clients for the huge
effort, that she has made, in their part of the Arabian world.

Of course, it was so wonderful to have the grand turnout of exhibitors at
the show - for without them, there would not be a show - so a very special
thank you to all of them.

The Greenwood Horse and Recration Club, continues to be an excellent venue
for this event, and Linda Landolt, the barn manager, works extremely hard at
getting stabling for all those who require it - box stalls, and paddocks.
This facility, offers, a huge outdoor riding ring, and two smaller rings,
plus an indoor ring. There are jumps available, and trail obstacles, lots
of parking, and miles of trail for a change in atmosphere after or before
classes. Canteen services were available during the show too!!

Thanks to all of those, who also helped with the continuing success of these
two shows,

See you all next year,

Most sincerely,

Delle Fairclough
Show Manager

Letter from the Editor:
The beginnings of the fall days are here again - which means crisp clear days, and cool evenings- excellent riding weather. When the morning sun, is greeted with a world of frost, the beautiful fall colours are not far behind. This quite possibly is the best horse weather for the whole year, as most of the insects are gone, and glorious fall has arrived.
The horses' coats are already thickening in anticipation of the cold winter days, that are still a distant memory - yet lurking in the weather we have to look forward to, as another year draws to an end.
This year, unfortunately, there was only one newsletter produced, as the newsletter editor seems to have vanished. Thus, I've taken up the reins, to have one put out, before I leave for the UK.
The NS Tribreed Show, was in some ways quite disappointing, but in other ways, new doors opened, so it will be held agian next year, with a new division, and a very new class (more on that later).
the Arabian Reunion Open Fun Show was very exciting, there were many entries, and many breeds of horses were exhibited in the various classes. There were lots of happy exhibitors, an audience, new faces - this really is a fun show - bith to manage and to show it.
the club seems to be in a very stable position, the membership is growing slowly, and there are many family memberships.
During the winter, there were a number of activities days held, attendance depending on the subject matter, weather and location of the activities was also a factor.
as this year draws to a close - I look forward to next year, as there continues to be growth in the membership, and support for club activities.
Happy Riding, or working with you horse/s,
Delle fairclough - President and temporary newsletter editor.

Mandel Arabians

It was August 12, 1999 when the last issue of the newsletter was sent from Mandel Arabians- seems like one heck of a long time ago!! So much water has gone under the bridge - what shall I say?
Well, Mandel Arabians is still here, this is our 15th year in existence, and when I added up the numbers, it was interesting to find that there were over 100 foals on the ground sired by our stallions -DW Maxx, DW Ramadaa, Ibn Valle, IBM Jamaar Bahjat, and El Zedek. Of course the foals did not all belong to us, as many breeders have used our stallions to raise that special foal from their favourite mare. of the ones that were raised on this farm - over 60 of the horses were sold.
The horses from this breeding program have won some very prestigious awards over the years, and the awards continue to collect on the various owners mantels - of this I am very proud. the horses, live in Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and I believe Florida.
Lots of exciting changes have been happening, the show barn is back!! Lots of clients, are boarding here, and when show season came, a contigent of them made their way to both the NS Tribreed Show and the Arabian Reunion Open Fun Show. For many of the clients this was the first time they had been in a show ring or hauled to a show, so the learning curve was steep. Nevertheless, everyone had a good time, and it was a great way to spend time with their horses. As owners of the boarding horses hail from Meteghan, Blockhouse (east of Bridgewater), Halifax, and Kentville. It was so great to see the horses being all spit and polished for the reunion Show.
In August, a very sucessful clinic/show was held for the clients boarding at the farm, each participant had a chance to show their horses, and also judge a number of classes. There was a showmanship class, a halter class, a liberty class, and a judging class of mares. It gave everyone a wonderful opportunity to practise, and also, to get some idea, as to what it is like to judge others - a real eye-opener for all those who participated.
Robin Ward was the official judge for the day, and in the future, she is thinking about becoming a judge. This year, Robin was also the ringmaster for one day at the Tribreed Show and the Reunion Show. I acted as a coach for the different aspects of the clinic/show. Mike served a wonderful meal afterwards, and there were also several donations of potluck too, it seems everyone had a good time to say the least. There will be another clinic with a potluck held on the 25 September, at that time, everyone will be working at ground driving their respective horses.
The foals - such wonderful, full of life these four legged furry creatures are. This year, six of them were born and oh! what a bunch!
Finally, a Maxx son - out of Dreams - nicknamed "Wings", a beautiful filly out of Petunia by Maxx - Regal Charm, a real beauty out of Taminya by Maxx - Named Beauty of course, another stunning filly out of Nassina, by Jamaar - surely another distance horse with the name "Jetzgo", Promising had a filly, by Zedek, who will turn grey - a real knockout of a filly - Dawn is her name, and last but not least, a simply smashing colt out of Tex by Zedek - Mike called him "Orion", a future herd sire for another breeding herd. I have no idea, as to how each year, they seem to get better, as I look at the horses that were first born here, and they also are an outstanding list - not only looks wise, but as performance horses.
We've kept a couple of the colts back for future herd sires - Ibn Ramadaa(DW Ramadaa X Petunia), Bounty(IBM Jamaar Bahjat X Scarlet), and this year, Wings(DW Maxx X Dreams).
This year, some new mares were added to the broodmare herd - it should be very interesting as to what some of these crosses will bring.
Also, So looking forward to showing again, and my first love the distance riding. Mind you, I've coached myself through the Canada Drive coaching program, and all of the two year olds ground drive, and one of them has been hooked to and was pulling a tire around for fun!! There are two carts, waiting to go, and one sleigh, so it is just a meatter of time, before one of the horses, and then more are going between the shafts, and then onto a team. Triumph is now started under saddle, and Widget has been backed - both of them are 14.1 hands and will make excellent mounts for anyone who has the desire to ride a beautiful Arabian horse.
Thanks to all my clients, all the best in your future,
CYL
Delle and the 4 legged gang at the farm!!
Best Wishes to Mike Fairclough during his cancer treatment- we're thinking about you - Good Luck!
